The Loggia of Cupid and Psyche – Villa Farnesina

The Loggia of Cupid and Psyche – Villa Farnesina

This Renaissance residence can be visited throughout the year, offering the opportunity to admire its masterpieces at a slower pace. It is a quiet and unexpected stop for those wishing to discover a more intimate side of Rome.
Created for the private residence of the Sienese banker Agostino Chigi, the fresco unfolds across the ceiling of the Loggia of Cupid and Psyche, transforming an architectural space into a suspended world of gods, flowers, and emotions. Inspired by Apuleius’ ancient tale, it tells the story of a love that overcomes trials, distances, and human limitations, until Psyche is finally reunited with Cupid among the gods.

Above the visitors’ heads, the figures seem to float in the open sky. The painted garden extends beyond the walls, creating a harmony between nature, mythology, and beauty. It is a scene where every detail has a purpose: a flower, a gesture, a glance. Everything speaks of balance and the eternal dialogue between grace and passion.
Perhaps this is the true magic of Villa Farnesina: the feeling of entering a private world where time slows down, where art is not distant or untouchable, but part of everyday life.
Rome reveals its most intimate beauty in places like this: behind quiet façades, inside unexpected rooms, in stories that continue to be told to those who choose to look more closely.

At Parisii, we believe that the most unforgettable moments are born where art, history, and emotion meet.
