Cosmo
Lobby
The artwork “Cosmo” is part of the recent artistic research titled “the impossible that manifests itself.” These works aim to propose a singularity, namely: where and how many times is it possible to see in the universe a Roman statue pierced by a Space Shuttle with a coral and a twisted dodecahedron on its back? One and only one, and it is in front of the viewer by the will of artistic creation. “Cosmo” also aims to connect different epochs, cultures, and disciplines to create new connections and unique narratives.

ORSI HORVÁTH
La forza, l’imperatore e il carro
Vert Sauge Room, Aqua Room
The key role of this stop motion animation is that it was made with colored clay: the ochre, blue, and black tones “animate” the five friends who find themselves questioning the future through tarot card readings, with a mix of perplexity, irony, and interpretation of symbols. The force, the emperor, and the chariot: using the three-card method, the arcana of the past, present, and future appear connected by the dilemma. The artist Orsi Horváth herself viewed fortune-telling with skepticism, considering it “new age nonsense,” but gradually became fascinated and amused by this practice, using it as inspiration for new creations. Thus, her hands shape the material and events of her “video,” but once the cards are revealed, she relinquishes control to fate – or simply chance – which will guide its course.

Rose Poudrè Room
The late 19th-century scientific tables depicting marine life and seascapes have been scratched on the back to reveal, on the reverse side, the faded frontal image, which appears mirrored compared to the original and with an inconsistent composition, as it is being observed from the “wrong” side.

GERMANO SERAFINI
Serie 1:1
Bordeaux Room
The series, handcrafted on photographic chemical paper, arises from the need to visually record aspects of reality as they appear. An almost always natural element, then a gesture or an action. And so physical imprints, traces of lived experience emerge.
I am very interested in the aspect of representing reality 1:1.
The relationship between object and surface, their direct contact. And then movement, rubbing, are recorded in their essence, leaving a mark of passage.

VALENTINA VANNICOLA
Filò
Safran Room
The term “Filò” evokes the evening gatherings in the stables, moments when the rural community would come together to tell stories. It is the result of Valentina Vannicola’s encounter with the inhabitants, the territory, and the legends of San Felice del Benaco, a small village on the shores of Lake Garda.
In “Filò,” Valentina Vannicola tells the story of a community of lake fishermen who devise ways to capture the moon so they no longer have to fish in the dark, or enact other stories that speak of an inseparable relationship with nature. Nature is experienced as an imaginative and precious power, but also as a force to be mastered and made one’s own. The protagonist of her photographs, the result of slow and meticulous research, is an entire community, this time that of San Felice del Benaco, which was involved in every phase of the project, from the search for bibliographic material to their presence as non-protagonist actors.
The images are part of a two-year project, 2022-2023, commissioned by Meccaniche della Meraviglia and the Municipality of San Felice del Benaco, on the occasion of Brescia and Bergamo being named Italian Capitals of Culture.
